California startup Relativity Space, known for using artificial intelligence and 3D printing to build rockets, will soon say goodbye to its CTO Jordan Noone, who co-founded the company together with Tim Ellis back in 2015 when the two were in their early 20s. In an email to employees, Noone said that he would be transitioning to a new role as executive advisor while preparing for his next venture.
“As a first-time founder, I am so lucky and grateful to have been surrounded by the industry’s best and brightest to build this incredible organization with Tim Ellis for the past five years,” Noone said on Twitter. “It’s with great confidence that I transition the helm to Tim and the entire Relativity team to keep moving our mission forward to launch the world’s first 3D printed rocket into orbit.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to support Relativity as I move forth onto new adventures. I will share more details at a later date.”
Ellis, Relativity’s CEO, responded on Twitter, saying that it was “an absolute honor and privilege” to build the startup with Noone. But, there were no other comments about the transition from Relativity Space aside from this.
Farsoon Delivers Year’s Largest 3D Printer Order

Industrial-grade plastic 3D printing supplier Farsoon Technologies announced that it has delivered and installed its largest order of 2020. 3D printing service bureau Chuanglian 3D Technology Co., Ltd already has over 100 additive and post-processing systems, making it the largest AM service provider on China’s northeast coast. With the addition of Farsoon’s CAMS (Continuous Additive Manufacturing Solution) HT1001P system and three Fiber-laser SLS Flight 403P production machines, Chuanglian 3D can now also offer its customers continuous series production, increased 3D print speed, and a new range of materials for a variety of applications.

Regulatory Considerations and Safety
Applications for 2021 WiSTEM2D Scholars Award
Johnson & Johnson is now accepting applications for its 2021 Women in STEM2D (WiSTEM2D) Scholars Award, which honors female researchers and scholars working in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design with a $150,000 grant and three years of mentorship from J&J leaders. The Scholars Award was launched in 2017, and works to inspire career paths in STEM2D by supporting awardees’ research, and grow development female leaders in STEM2D. One of the 2019 winners had developed a smarter, more efficient 3D printer that can self-correct during a print job, and in 2020, there over 500 qualified applicants, so it will be interesting to see how many applications are received this year, and what kinds of innovations these female scholars have been developing.
