Bolt Box, a 3D Printed Puzzle Box

A 3D printed dual nut version of a single nut puzzle box I’d seen at craft shows over the years. A follower asked if I could recreate the dual nut version (which is currently commercially available as “Nut Case”) for 3D printing, so here it is.

I designed this model in about thirty minutes, and it required about an hour to 3D print on my Ultimaker S5s using the Ultimaker Cura “Engineering” profile. Solving the assembled puzzle is almost as difficult as assembling the puzzle.

If anyone else is interested I will be happy to publish the .stl files along with the Autodesk Fusion 360 .f3d file illustrating the twenty six Fusion 360 steps required (for me at least) to create this model.

Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced using an Ultimaker Cura 4.6.1 “Engineering Profile”, and 3D printed in PLA on an Ultimaker S5.
